Kyivstar has received award at the Trainings INDEX 2011, an annual contest of personnel projects held by Emploi. "KIEVSTARiA: Motivating with Intellect", an intellectual game which Kyivstar held in 2010 among its employees to boost their positive attitude and increase knowledge of the company’s business, has won in the "Effective Solution for Personnel Training, Development, and Performance Improvement" nomination. The nomination includes evaluation of effectiveness of solutions implemented and results they yielded. Kyivstar’s project has won among 13 other cases of Ukrainian and Russian companies.
KIEVSTARiA an intellectual game which includes elements of team formation and contest on the same lines as "What? Where? When?", was held in three phases (qualifying phase, semifinals, and final). Each contest consisted of two rounds 15 questions each. Participants had one minute to come up with the answer to each question. All questions were about the company, competitors, technologies, market, etc., and were prepared by the employees themselves and then verified by the appeal commission comprised of the top management. 380 employees grouped up in 76 teams have participated in the project, which was 15% of the company staff at the time. After three months of playing the game the employees’ involvement, knowledge of the company and telecom market, and interest in performance have substantially increased.
Olena Kropyvianska, Director for Personnel and Company Development:
"When we first announced the game (participation in it was a strictly voluntary matter), we had only 36 teams who have notified their intent to play one day prior to the beginning of qualification rounds, so we were somewhat taken aback because of that. But you can’t image how pleasantly surprised we were when on the last day of accepting applications the number of registered teams have surged to 76! We thought that we would have to „push“ top managers to participate in the game, but almost all top execs were included to participating teams. All in all, KIEVSTARiA has proved once again that people don’t have to be forced to learn. In any event, it’s not a very effective method. It is much better to create an environment in which people will be interested in and long for learning, development, thinking, being part of the team, and interested in the company they work at. It is exactly the environment that KIEVSTARiA has created".
Kyivstar is striving for continuous growth, and helps its employees to learn and develop together with the company.
