China’s Crude Oil Processing Volume up 4.4% in May, 2011
OREANDA-NEWS. June 21, 2011. China, the world's second-largest oil consumer, saw its oil processing volume climb 4.4% year on year to 34.9 million metric tons in May, according to a statement published on the website of the National Development and Reform Commission.
In the first five months of this year, China processed a total of 171.12 million metric tons of crude oil, 7.4% more than in the same period of last year.
Last month, China's output of oil products grew 5.2% year on year to 21.05 million metric tons, taking its output of oil products to a total of 103.09 million metric tons in the first five months, 7.9% more than in the corresponding period of 2010.
China saw its crude oil output climb 1.1% year on year to 17.26 million metric tons in May. The country's crude oil output increased 4.4% year on year to 84.8 million metric tons in the first five months.
China imported 19.6 million metric tons of crude oil in May, 2.2% more than in the same month of last year, and imported a total of 104.44 million metric tons of crude oil in the first five months, up 10% year on year.
