OREANDA-NEWS. June 20, 2011. It was said in the interview to Russian mass media by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Moldova Valerii Lazar, reminding that this year our country has totally switched over to the gas price formation mechanism applied by Gazprom in respect of the European states, that is why no sudden jumps should be there.

The Moldovan Minister reminded that up to 10-15% of the transit of gas supplied to the Balkan region passes our country. Russia and Molddova have a joint enterprise Moldovagas, its control stock belonging to Gazprom (50%). It was reported earlier that Moscow and Chisinau had agreed that the negotiations over gas supplies to Moldova would be held by Gazprom and Moldovagaz instead of the two countries’ governments.

The agreement to carry out the talks on the level of the concrete companies – operators Gazprom and Moldovagaz, instead of on the level of the two countries’ governments was reached during the 12th meeting of the Inter-Governmental commission for economic cooperation of Russia and Moldova held in March this year in Moscow.

The respective negotiations used to be held on the level of Moldovan and Russian governments until now. According to the agreements, Moldovagaz and Gazprom will prepare and coordinate terms of the contracts of gas supplies to Moldova and its transit by the end of 2011.
