OREANDA-NEWS. June 15, 2011. As a Member of the ACC, UVK supports another session of the Chamber’s Logistics & Transportation Committee, devoted to unfavorable economic and social consequences of Ukraine, caused by accidents on roads. We in UVK believe that these issues are of an utmost importance for any transport company to deal with inbound and international transportations

Under a World’s Bank report entitled ‘Fighting against a ‘Death on the Wheels’ and issued in 2010, the negative economic effects from accidents on roads amounted for nearly USD 5 bln. in Ukraine, which is 4% of the country’s GDP. This figure does prompt to ponder of this problem seriously!

The organizers of the Committee’s meeting suggest these issues to be discussed:

the legislative role in solving roads safety

road safety as a priority of the state’s national security

civil interests of citizens as participants of trafficking

contribution of road militia to the realization of the Global Plan for th UN Roads Safety Decade

corporate social responsibility as a tool in tackling with roads

safety issues safety of corporate transportation vehicles

The meeting is to take place on June 23rd, 2011, being open for attendance by all Chamber Members.
