OREANDA-NEWS. June 14, 2011. By the rating results compiled by Interfax-ERA (part of the international Interfax information group) JSC  TATNEFT has become the industry branch leader in environmental transparency among the companies of the Russian Federation in the area of crude oil production.

The ecology and energy Interfax-ERA agency compared 3,759 enterprises and companies from Russia and Kazakhstan by the fundamental figures of environmental friendliness. The assessment of business transparency is the first component of the fundamental efficiency rating being developed by Interfax by the list of companies agreed with the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources Management and governors of the regions.

The information to rank fundamental performance was requested from the enterprises in the autumn of 2010. Summarization of the results took into account not only the data provided by the companies for the past year, but also the data for previous years. Information on revenues and a number of employees at the enterprise disclosed in accordance with legal requirements to the securities issuers reporting was also taken into consideration. Ranking of the companies by transparency was carried out for the whole array of the enterprises represented in the database, as well as more limited sampling by industry branches, activities and regions. Majority of the used assessment figures are part of the official statistics, which confirms their authenticity.

TATNEFT has repeatedly reaffirmed its high environmental rating with victories in prestigious international, all-Russia and republican environmental contests. This is a natural result of a purposeful, well thought over and effective environmental management of the Company, which is currently implementing the third large-scale and long-term "Environmental Program of JSC  TATNEFT for 2000 - 2015", which includes activities in 34 areas. The Company adheres to a coherent, integrated policy in the field of nature protection, industrial safety, occupational health and the environment protection.
