OREANDA-NEWS. June 14, 2011. The closest attention in the construction and operation of the refineries and petrochemical plants complex is given to the environmental aspects. Artyom Sidorov, Minister of Environment and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, who visited this strategic facility of TATNEFT, highly praised the environmental focus of TANECO activities.

In the course of inspecting a number of first stage and offsite facilities of the Oil Refining and Petrochemical Complex Minister got acquainted with advanced domestic and global environment protection technologies applied in the project implementation. In particular A. Sidorov called the TANECO Wastewater Treatment Plant, where combined traditional and cutting edge modern methods of wastewater treatment, such as membrane bioreactors, reverse osmosis, sorption and UV disinfection are applied, a clear example of a rational attitude to the natural resources. Following the intensive cleaning the waste water (up to 80 percent of the total volume) is re-used in production to feed the systems of recycling and fire control water supply. At present mechanical, physical and chemical, sorption/coal cleaning technologies are already in operation, as well as the installation of the waste water disinfection. Commissioning works are in progress at the block of the wastes sludge dewatering. Erection of technological equipment at the block of the biological treatment is at the completion stage.

Artyom Sidorov defined the laboratory of industrial environmental monitoring of TANECO as one of the best in the Republic of Tatarstan. In the arsenal of this laboratory there are devices of the latest generation, made by leading manufacturers, guaranteeing exceptional quality of analyses, accuracy, reliability and significant increase in labor productivity associated with the automation of an absolute majority of processes. Much work is being carried out by the laboratory staff for analyzing the atmospheric air. The samples on the border of the sanitary-protective zone (in the villages Klyatle, Alan, Ishteryakovo and at three points in the city of Nizhnekamsk) are taken and analyzed on a weekly basis. A daily analysis of the air at the territory of the complex at the sites of CDU / VDU-7, loading racks and stock tanks has been performed since the beginning of comprehensive equipment testing (April 2011). Control is performed with application of a mobile station for environmental monitoring.

As of now, the mobile station for environmental monitoring has performed more than 16,500 tests with 2,800 of them for treated waste water, 170 tests for potable water and 163 analyses for natural water. Special attention is paid to the condition of the atmospheric air (8650 analyses). The results received by the environmentalists of TANECO evidence that the air condition meets health standards.

Having visited other production sites of the Oil Refining and Petrochemical Complex (CDU / VDU-7 with the naphtha stabilizer, water block, sulfur production unit) and familiarized with innovative environmental technologies applied at these facilities the Minister of Environment and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan noted that environmental issues are under constant supervision at TANECO Company.
