OREANDA-NEWS. June 14, 2011.  NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) announced today the global launch of its "GreenGlobe Data Visualizer," a cloud based service that enables companies to gather and centralize the management of environmental load information, including CO2 emissions, from affiliated sites all over the world.

This new service utilizes cloud computing to gather and centralize the management of environmental impact information from multiple locations, including the consumption and emission of energy (electric power, fuel), chemical substances, paper, water, carbon dioxide and waste matter. This data can be easily accessed, edited and used to develop reports for a variety of specialized purposes, including the support of CSR and government agencies.

This public cloud service enables companies to significantly reduce system start-up costs as it can be deployed at 10% (*) the cost when compared with a proprietary environmental management system. Furthermore, services are available in English, Chinese and Japanese, which enables easy deployment to sites all over the world.

In April 2011, the "GreenGlobe Data Visualizer" was launched by a leading global electronics company who implemented the system throughout its worldwide locations. Looking forward, as it becomes increasingly important for corporations to manage their environmental activities on a global scale, NEC aims to capitalize on this experience and know-how in order to globally promote the system mainly in the manufacturing, entertainment, retail and logistics fields.

In recent years, governments and authorities have tightened their regulations on the management and reporting of environmental loads. It is now vital for corporations to have a system that gathers accurate, real time data and flexibly produces reports that meet a wide variety of requirements. As companies seek to increase the effectiveness of their resources, NEC anticipates that the utilization of public cloud services in this segment will continue to accelerate and since the management of environmental load is common across all companies, this same system can be effective for all corporations.
