OREANDA-NEWS. June 10, 2011. Karelia is one of the most ecologically favorable regions of the country. It is indicated by results of the public ecological monitoring made according to independent expert appraisals and published by the All-Russian Society of Nature Conservation.

According to the public monitoring of May, 2011, the most successful from the point of view of the ecological situation were recognized the Republic of Karelia, Belgorod, Ivanovo and Tambov regions. Thus, our republic tops the eco-rating!

The ecological situation evaluation indicators in regions were condition of the atmospheric air, surface water, flood time, condition of inland waters, soils, forest resources (wildfire suppression), biological variety (anti-poaching), control of dumping and recycling of wastes, struggle against stationary pollution source and radiation and chemical environment.

Let us remind that the All-Russian Society of Nature Conservation is the oldest nature-conservation organization of the country established in 1924.
