OREANDA-NEWS. June 10, 2011. Modern technical level of the Belarusian agro-industrial complex has approached the level of the leading countries, Vice Premier of Belarus Valery Ivanov said at the opening ceremony of the Belagro 2011 expo which took place. The exhibition is held within the framework of the Belarusian agro-industrial week.

“The Belarusian agro-industrial complex is one of the leading branches of the national economy. It ensures food security of the country. Thus the government pays special attention to the development of the area,” Valery Ivanov said.

The State Rural Revival and Development Program helped boost the volume of gross agricultural production in all areas by 24%, including the 50% growth in the social sector. Belarus takes first place in the per capita food production among CIS countries. It is one of the leading countries in the production of milk, potatoes and other agricultural products.

Belarus has ensured technical and technological independence of agriculture, designed technological mechanisms for farming and plant cultivation.

The main areas to promote the agro-industrial complex in the next five years were defined by the rural development program for 2011-2015. This program is a system of measures and mechanisms to boost the efficiency of agriculture.

“Our primary objective to develop the agro-industrial complex in the next five years is to increase the efficiency of agricultural production, encourage the growth of labor efficiency on the basis of the technical modernization of all areas,” Valery Ivanov stressed. In order to achieve these goals it is essential to enhance innovative development of all areas of the complex, he believes. Thus it is necessary to look for new innovative approaches to organize the business.

Partaking in the Belagro 2011 expo are over 370 companies from 16 countries. The exhibition will stay open till 12 June.
