Inflation Makes 0,6% in Moldova in May
OREANDA-NEWS. June 10, 2011. Inflation for the last 12 months – from May 2010 through May 2011 amounted to 7%, it was informed at the National Statistics Office. Particularly, food prices in January-May 2011 grew 6.1%, prices for non-food products – by 2.1%, tariffs for services rendered to the population grew 6.1%.
In May 2011, food prices increased in the republic by 0.1%, prices for non-food products – by 0.5%, tariffs for services rendered to population increased by 1.2%. The biggest growth of prices in May this year among foodstuffs was reported for potato – 5.6%, fresh fruit – 2.4%.
Among non-food products, the biggest growth was seen by building materials – by 2.2%, fuel – 1.8%. Tariffs for electric power supplied to final consumers grew 6.4%, international rail transportation – 5.3%, travel services – 3.8%. In the beginning of May, the National Bank of Moldova increased its inflation projection for 2011 from 7.9% to 8.4%, and for 2012 – from 4.5% to 5.7%.
