OREANDA-NEWS. June 9, 2011. Renaissance Capital, the leading emerging markets investment bank, has appointed Ali Khalpey as Head of Equities, South Africa, overseeing the continued growth of the Firm’s equities platform.

Mr. Khalpey, who joined Renaissance in January 2010, retains his responsibilities as Head of Sales, Africa. Based in Johannesburg, he has a dual reporting line to Clifford Sacks, CEO of Renaissance Capital in Africa, and Yonatan Gozdanker, Global Head of Cash Equities.

“Since joining Renaissance Capital, Ali has made a significant contribution to our Sub-Saharan Africa business, and we are pleased to expand his role in one of our fastest-growing regions,” said Mr. Sacks.

Before joining Renaissance Capital, Mr. Khalpey spent eight years at Investec Bank plc as global head of South Africa equity sales in London and New York, and established Investec’s New York business. Prior to that, he was a fund manager at BlackRock for five years, where he managed the Middle East and Africa funds.
