OREANDA-NEWS. June 09, 2011. Moldova will permit import of special-purpose cars, granted or provided as humanitarian assistance, irrespectively of their operation life. The respective bill was elaborated by the Finance Ministry to facilitate special-purpose vehicles import procedures.

It should be noted that the legislation in force bans import of the special-purpose cars, the operation life of which exceeds the permissible norms and in 2010-2011, a respective law was passed for each of the cars to import them deviating from the existing legislative norms. To improve the situation, a general law is planned to be passed to permit import of special-purpose cars, the operation life of which exceeds the permissible norms in the country, under concrete technical assistance projects of donor’s donations with the obligatory condition of using such vehicles in a strict compliance with their purposes without the right of alienation.

They will also be exempted from the VAT and customs duties. The matter concerns ambulance cars and other cars for medical purposes, fire engines, specialized streets cleaning machines and other machines for public utilities provided to Moldova as a grant or as humanitarian assistance.
