DG-DGCA Flags off Air India Flight Safety Awareness Week
OREANDA-NEWS. June 08, 2011. Air India is celebrating Flight Safety Awareness week on its network from 06th June 2011 to 12th June 2011, as a part of DGCA Incident and Accident Prevention programme in accordance with Civil Aviation Regulations / IATA Operational Safety Audit Standards.
On this occasion, the Flight Safety Department of Air India organized a briefing session at Safdarjung Airport New Delhi, which was inaugurated by Shri Bharat Bhushan, Director General of Civil Aviation in India in the presence of senior officials of the airlines. In his address, Mr Bharat Bhushan appreciated the steps taken by Air India to inculcate Safety Awareness among its employees operating in operational and non operational areas. He said this was essential to ensure incident free operations and achieve a Zero Accident rate.
As part of the celebrations, the Director General was shown AIRFASE, a 3D Animation Flight Data Monitoring software from Airbus Industries. Shri Bhushan appreciated the use of this tool by the Airline's Flight Safety Depertment for enhancement FOQA (Flight Operation Quality Assurance) safety standards. According to an Air India spokesperson, the Flight Safety Awareness week is being celebrated organisation-wide, with different departments organising programmes that seek to improve operational safety.
