Textile Industry of Turkmenistan Strengthens Positions
OREANDA-NEWS. June 08, 2011. The International Exhibition and Economic Forum on the Achievements of the Textile Industry of Turkmenistan during the Years of Independence and the Prospects for Development was held at the Exhibition Centre in Ashgabat to mark the remarkable date in the national calendar, the Day of Textile Worker of Turkmenistan.
The International Textile Exhibition and Economic Forum aroused the keen interest of numerous participants, guests and visitors and became an opportunity to learn more about achievements of one of the most developed and export oriented sectors of the national economy. The large-scale exposition showed vividly that 20 years after Turkmenistan gained independence the national economy had made a breakthrough opening up vast opportunities and great prospects to develop fruitful mutually beneficial cooperation with world’s textile producers.
That was vividly illustrated by a variety of high quality commodities meeting international standardsincluding cotton yarn, silk filament, cotton fabric, denim, terrycloth, knitted fabric, ready-made garments, silk fabric – ketene and panne velvet, beautiful silk carpets, which were displayed in the pavilions of Turkmen textile complexes and entrepreneurs.
The huge potential, rapidly developing textile market and infrastructure make our country attractive for business cooperation, the obvious results of which were showcased in the expositions.
Dozens of companies from different countries, including Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, Turkey, Korea, Russia, China and others took part in this ambitious forum of achievements of Turkmen textile workers, which provided them with an opportunity to present innovations and latest developments of the world textile industry. These included leading equipment and chemical products manufacturers and specialists in design of innovative fabrics, including protective and technician textile, and dyeing technologies.
The economic forum where leading specialists from different countries exchanged views on a variety of aspects of the progress of the textile industry in Turkmenistan was an event of particular importance. They presented over 20 reports covering the aspects of particular importance for the industry such as modernization of production facilities, introduction of advanced cost-effective technologies and modern development trends in the textile industry.
In the framework of the exhibition foreign guests held a number of business meetings with Turkmen counterparts. The acquaintance of the export potential of Turkmen textile sector turned into an interesting discussion of proposals and new prospects of cooperation.
The specialists of the Korean companies, including Вesbay, Huvis, Hyosung, Samshin, Paka, Ventex, Silk and others, leading designers of yarn, fabrics and dyeing technologies for all types of yarn and fabrics conducted a seminar in the conference hall of the Ministry of Textile Industry. Managers, engineers and technicians of textile enterprises and students of higher educational institutions of the county, who are to increase achievements of the national textile industry, were invited to the meetings.
In the framework of the discussions of further opportunities for cooperation Turkmen specialists showed the keen interest in the profound expertise of potential Korean partners in design and application of science intensive, high-tech and, most importantly, environmentally friendly technologies. In particular, the business meetings the Korean businessmen focused on such aspects as the technologies to manufacture polyester staple fibres, mixed yarn and various combinations of fabrics, elastic velvet and garments from it. Currently, these directions are actively explored in the textile industry in our country.
Thousands of textile workers and specialists, entrepreneurs, citizens and guests of Ashgabat visited the large-scale exposition. The colourful fashion show as an indispensable attribute of the textile exhibition created a festive mood.
The ceremony of opening the service centre of the Rieter Company took place within the framework of the Day of Textile Worker festivities. The exhibition and forum participants were invited to attend the ceremony. The service centre was opened at the Turkmendokma Enterprise. It will ensure that original manufacturing equipment and spare parts are delivered for Turkmen cotton spinning factories, tools and equipment are maintained and consulting services are provided in a proper and timely manner, including in the electronic format. Those speaking at the ceremony underlined the importance of the forum and business meetings in Ashgabat in promoting constructive partnership and noted that the opening of the Rieter service centre and representative office would contribute to strengthening the material and technical resources and production infrastructure of the Turkmen textile industry.
Thus, the international exhibition and economic forum in Ashgabat vividly illustrated that today the textile industry, one of the high-tech sectors of the economy of independent Turkmenistan, steadily enhanced its positions as a large textile producer on world markets and active participant to international business partnerships in this sector. The three-day forum became an efficient step to widen mutually beneficial business relations with foreign partners and multilateral tradeand economic cooperation.
Diplomas and certificates were awarded to exhibition and forum participants during the closing ceremony.
