OREANDA-NEWS. June 08, 2011. According to the latest figures, passenger turnover on Russian Railways in May 2011 amounted to 10.7 billion passenger-km, 0.8% more than during the same period in 2010, reported the press-centre of Russian Railways.

Between January and May 2011, 368.9 million passengers travelled on Russia's rail network, up 1.2% on the same period in 2010.

Long-distance passengers fell to 40.2 million, a decrease of 1.6%, while suburban passenger numbers were up to 328,700,000, a rise of 1.6%.

Passenger traffic on Russian Railways’ network during January-May 2011 increased by 2.2% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 45.9 billion passenger-km.
