OREANDA-NEWS. June 07, 2011. Results of stresses-tests of the NPPs in Russia will be known by the end of the current year simultaneously with the data of similar tests of the European Union.

Head of the Rostechnadzor Nikolay Kutyin reported it during the governmental hour in the State Duma.

 “We will hold stresses-tests for the NPPs in parallel with the European Union, and by the end of the current year we will have data of all the NPPs”, — he said, having noticed, that the work has already revealed some lacks on a number of the objects, connected with equipment ageing.

 Stresses-tests for the NPPs, according to Kutyin, will allow analyzing probability and development of so-called supercritical events, which can happen at the NPPs.

 Speaking about emergency "Fukushima-1" NPP the Head of the Rostechnadzor noticed, that the plant shows a reality of technological accident with any equipment and in any point of the globe. “However, I would like to notice, that the accident happened not because of the earthquake and tsunami, at the moment of the accident the system of the NPP safety was working in a regular mode, and stopped the reactors. The accident happened later because of activity of the NPP personnel and technological features of the NPP project”, — Kutyin said.

 Rostechnadzor and Rosatom have carried out an estimation of the standard documents regulating operation of nuclear objects for two months, and examined the NPPs projects. Kutyin has noticed, there was an active discussion on placing the Nizhniy Novgorod NPP, Rosatom has defined the site for the NPP placing, and the scientists surveyed this territory.

 “At the same time, while issuing the license for the NPP placing, we have ruled the necessity of preliminary placing the system for monitoring of karstic formations in the earth stratum. Rosatom prepares this system, only afterwards the licenses to build the NPP will be considered“, — Kutyin said.
