OREANDA-NEWS. June 6, 2011. Belarus plans to take out a loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) amounting to USD 3.5-8 billion in the framework of a new cooperation program with the Fund, Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich said.

The program will take three to five years to implement.

Myasnikovich said the IMF would lend to Belarus at a rate twice as low as the EurAsEC stabilization loan.

“I met with the IMF office head in Minsk yesterday, and we had two-hour discussions. The mission that is working in Belarus now will monitor how we have met our commitments under the previous program. But we have decided to combine the work of this mission with the analysis of approaches to form a new program of cooperation with the Fund,” the premier said.
