OREANDA-NEWS. June 06, 2011. Russian Railways and ADIF, Spain’s Administration of Railway Infrastructure, have signed an Agreement of Intent to establish partnerships by twinning railway stations. The agreement was concluded at the VI International Business Forum: 1520 Strategic Partnership in Sochi, reported the press-centre of Russian Railways.

This arrangement will be formalized in specific partnership contracts that will be signed by respective CEOs in the next two months. Initially, the twinning project will engage Moscow-based Kievsky railway station of Russian Railways and Madrid Atocha railway station (ADIF). Following conclusion of the agreements railway station heads will exchange commemorative plaques that will be placed in front of the buildings.

"Experts at the twinned stations will exchange experience and information in various areas, such as management, commercial operations, intermodal transport and cooperation with other modes of transport, passenger information, environmental protection, public safety, the use of modern technologies and the development of urban, architectural and design solutions," said Sergei Abramov, Head of the Directorate of Railway Stations, which is part of Russian Railways.

The parties to the agreement will also promote joint actions and mutually beneficial projects at one or more of the twinned railway stations.
