OREANDA-NEWS. June 06, 2011. It was said at the work meeting with industrial enterprises’ representatives held by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar that the lack of the skilled labor force is the major problem of Moldova’s industrial enterprises, according to the Ministry of Economy’s press service.

Companies’ heads expressed their concern about the high workers training costs, saying that both the higher and professional education of the latter do not meet practical needs. Managers proposed to launch the state assistance program for professional training of workers, including by means of re-directing a part of social unemployment benefits to payment for professional training courses and to reforming the professional technical education.

The Minister of Economy said a joint work group consisting of representatives of profile ministries and business environment should be set up to work out suggestions regarding reforming the professional education for it to meet the labor force market’s needs. The Minister said the current situation is due to the labor migration which resulted in the loss of the country’s industrial culture.

Valeriu Lazar said the authorities have no other possibilities of stopping the labor migration of Moldovan citizens but to raise workers’ salaries. According to him, at the same time, labor efficiency and enterprises’ and goods’ competitiveness need to be increased for that.
