Industrial Output Increases by 8,5% in Moldova in 1Q
OREANDA-NEWS. June 06, 2011. Particularly, the volume of industrial output in March this year grew 3.7 percent against March last year, according to the National Statistics Office. The industrial output grew in January-March 2011 owing to the increase in production of the extracting industry by 26.5 percent and of the processing industry – by 12.6 percent.
At the same time, production and distribution of electric and heat energy reduced in this period by 3.7%. According to the official statistics, production of foodstuffs and beverages in the first quarter of 2011 increased in Moldova by 2.8 percent. Particularly, production of canned fruit and vegetables increased by 44.3 percent, dairy production – by 4.9%. Production, processing and canning of meat grew 4.8 percent, beverages – 4.1%.
A considerable growth in January-March this year was also reported in metallurgic industry – 1.6 times. Production of other non-metal mineral productions (glass, cement, gypsum and others) grew 49.3%, machines and equipment – 40.2%, electric machines and equipment – by 29.6%, leather and shoes – by 28.1%, tobacco products – 19.4%, furniture – 10.1%, clothes – 6.6%, chemical production – 5.3%.
At the same time, production of vegetable and animal fats reduced by 13.5%, textile production – by 4.6%, paper and cardboard – by 4.1%.
