OREANDA-NEWS. June 06, 2011. Prime Minister Vlad Filat today participated in the opening of a line for the production of PET receptacles and a new warehouse of the Coca Cola company in Moldova, the government's communications and press relations department has said.

In November 2009, the Coca Cola company launched a comprehensive reorganization process to replace a line of 250-ml bottles by a line for the production of PET receptacles; to build a new warehouse with a capacity of 5,300 square metres (the best equipped warehouse from Moldova) and a new boiler room, to upgrade the water and power supply systems; to fit out the company's production rooms are situated.

The manager-general of the Coca Cola company in Moldova, Mihai Marinescu, said that the today's event is one of the most important for the company, as this means its evolution in Moldova. Marinescu specified that the made investment fits into the company's efforts to improve its efficiency.

Marinescu emphasized that the new production line has a capacity of 12,000 bottles per hour, and is the biggest line for producing cool drinks in Moldova. The new production line will make it possible to manufacture about 60 per cent of the Coca Cola company's present consumption in Moldova.

Mihai Marinescu thanked the authorities and the company's partners for the support given to develop the Coca Cola company in Moldova.

Filat said that the today's event is a proof that nice things take place in Moldova, and such big investments show that Moldova is on the right path.

The Coca Cola company is an example for the investors who want to start successful business in Moldova. The country is open and needs as much investments as possible, and the government has set the goal to create an as friendly investment climate as possible," the prime minister noted.
Vlad Filat urged the Coca Cola leadership to continue investing in Moldova. He gave assurances that the Moldovan government will do its utmost for the investors to benefit from very good working conditions.

Filat said that Coca Cola is a partner for the government, as it contributes to Moldova's economic growth and its budget, as well as to creating well-paid jobs for Moldova's citizens.

Attending the event, US Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Moldova Asif J. Chaudhry congratulated everybody who made the launch of the Coca Cola brand on Moldova's market possible. The ambassador said that such companies as Coca Cola neither come nor expand their business if the market is not transparent and does not develop.

The diplomat said that the US government committed to help Moldova on the path of economic prosperity and consolidation of democracy. The ambassador stressed that the fact that more and more companies come to Moldova shows that the country makes progress on this path.

The guests visited the new production line and the warehouse, got acquainted with the conditions in which the cool drinks are made, preserved and delivered to consumers.

Coca Cola entered Moldova's market in 1994. So far, the company has invested about 20 million euros in Moldova. Presently, the company has about 200 employees.
