OREANDA-NEWS. June 03, 2011. Baosteel exclusively released "Green Declaration" and "Product Environment Statement" in the steel industry. More than 100 representatives from insider environmental specialists, Baosteel suppliers and customers, residents in the community and over 30 media from home and abroad witnessed this landmark moment in the green development course of domestic steel industry. The release is an important measure made by Baosteel to implement the strategy of environmental management and fulfill social responsibility, manifesting Baosteel's determination to implement the scientific outlook on development and adhering to the road of green development, meanwhile, it is also a major progress to disclose the environmental performance of the products in Chinese steel industry, reported the press-centre of Baosteel.

Baosteel leaders He Wenbo, Ma Guoqiang, Li Yongxiang and Zhou Jianfeng, etc. attended the release meeting, which was chaired by vice president of Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. Wang Jing.

Energy conservation and emission reduction, environmental protection have became the common understanding of the entire society, which imposes higher requirements upon the scientific and sustainable development of steel industry, a conventional industry.

Since its founding, Baosteel has always adhered to synchronization of production construction and environmental protection. In the past 10 years, Baosteel made over RMB 50 billion investment in comprehensive environmental protection such as clean production and waste recycling, with over 1300 various achievements generated. In recent years, Baosteel took the lead in putting forward the strategy of environmental management, striving to realize an ecological and low carbon enterprise through green purchase, clean production and expansion of green industry.

In the release meeting, vice president of Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. Zhou Jianfeng released "Product Environment Statement" for 5 categories including hot rolling, disclosing the technical documents of ecological information of these products from raw material mining to product processing and application, providing the public with the product environmental performance data that can be verified and quantified, demonstrating Baosteel's determination to accept the public's supervision and continue to improve the environmental performance.

President of Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. Ma Guoqiang released the "Green Declaration". Baosteel promised: give priority to cooperate with the suppliers of good environmental performance, pool the wits of the whole company to develop the manufacture process of high energy efficiency and high resources efficiency, provide the society with the products and services of good environmental performance, and share advanced environmental engineering concept and technology withe users. "Green Declaration" involves purchase, production process, product and cooperation, and will become the action guideline for Baosteel's strategy of environmental management.

The release marks a new starting point in the green development course of Baosteel. President of Baosteel Group Corporation and chairman of Baosteel Co., Ltd. He Wenbo made a keynote speech titled "New Era, New Steel, New Business and New Partner" in the release meeting. He expounded from three aspects, "The steel industry in the current world", "Perceiving the pace of the era" and "Environmental management is a choice". During the release meeting, former director of Department of Policies, Laws and Regulations under Ministry of Environmental Protection of the P.R.C. Peng Jinxin made a report on current status of global environment. Baosteel Co., Ltd. Energy & Environmental Department and Product Development Department conducted exchanges on clean production and green products. Many users, and representatives from the suppliers' and residents in the community made speeches for exchange and spoke highly of the action taken by Baosteel. They expressed their will to make efforts together with Baosteel. In conclusion, He Wenbo, Ma Guoqiang and some representatives hung up the "leaves" that imply the concept of environmental protection on the "tree" that stands for green alliance together, pushing the atmosphere of the release meeting to the peak.
