Central Bank Discusses Implementation of WB Projects in Azerbaijan
OREANDA-NEWS. June 03, 2011. Elman Rustamov – Governor of the Central Bank received the delegation of the World Bank (WB) headed by Asad Alam, World Bank regional director for the South Caucasus. Status of the projects implemented by the WB in Azerbaijan, as well as preparation for the Second High Level Forum was discussed during the meeting, reported the press-centre of CBA.
In the course of the meeting, Governor E.Rustamov emphasized upward development of relations between Azerbaijan and the WB, and said that the “Days of Azerbaijan” held at a high level in the Washington office of the WB in March of the current year clearly exemplifies the case.
Asad Alam expressed his satisfaction with the relations with the Republic of Azerbaijan, highly appreciated activity of the organization represented by him in the financial and banking sector of the country, and thanked the Governor of the Central Bank for relevant support.
The meeting also included exchange of views on directions of cooperation between the World Bank and the Azerbaijan Mortgage Fund.
To note, Azerbaijan has been a member of the World Bank since 1992 and within the cooperation USD2.9 billion were allocated for 43 projects, implemented in different spheres. Azerbaijan has the third largest portfolio in the European and Central Asian region after Turkey and Kazakhstan.
