SCF Group and Kazakh Government Discuss Joint Venture Project
OREANDA-NEWS. June 02, 2011. SCF Group’s President & CEO Sergey Frank met the Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Masimov, on 1 June 2011 in Astana, to discuss a joint venture project for the transportation of Kazakh oil exports by sea.
The project is already under development in Kazakhstan and its implementation will expand SCF Group’s share of shipping services for Kazakhstan’s major oil exporters.
The advantage of creating such a joint venture, from the Russian perspective, is the possibility to use the facilities of Russia’s shipbuilding industry.
The joint venture also has the potential to be a good example of effective Russian-Kazakh trade, economic and industrial cooperation.
SCF Group has been working with companies engaged in Kazakh oil exports since 1996. Kazakh charterers continuously use a couple of SCF Group ships, of Aframax and Panamax class, while SCF shuttle transportation occurs on a regular basis for Kazakh companies.
