OREANDA-NEWS. June 02, 2011. Tata Motors’ total sales (including exports) of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles in May 2011 were 62,296 vehicles, a growth of 10 per cent over 56,775 vehicles sold in May 2010. The company’s domestic sales of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles for May 2011 were 56,762 vehicles, an 8-per-cent growth over 52,799 sold in May last year, reported the press-centre of Tata.

Cumulative sales (including exports) for the company for the fiscal are 126,679 vehicles, a growth of 11 per cent over 113,974 vehicles sold last year.

Commercial vehicles
The company’s sales of commercial vehicles in May 2011 in the domestic market were 37,361 vehicles, a 19-per-cent growth compared to 31,475 vehicles sold in May last year. LCV sales were 21,829 vehicles, a growth of 24 per cent over May last year. M&HCV sales stood at 15,532 vehicles, a growth of 12 per cent over May last year.

Cumulative sales of commercial vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal are 74,099 vehicles, a growth of 19 per cent over last year. Cumulative LCV sales are 44,631 vehicles, a growth of 26 per cent over last year, while M&HCV sales stood at 29,468 vehicles, a growth of 9 per cent over last year.

Passenger vehicles
The passenger vehicles business reported a total sale and distribution offtake of 21,549 vehicles (19,401 Tata + 2,148 Fiat) in the domestic market in May 2011, compared to 23,487 vehicles (21,324 Tata + 2,163 Fiat) in May last year. Sales of Tata passenger vehicles for May 2011 are at 19,401 vehicles, lower by 9 per cent over May last year. Sales of the Tata Nano were 6,515 vehicles, higher by 84 per cent over May last year. The Indica range sales were 5,497 vehicles, lower by 35 per cent over May last year. The Indigo range recorded sales of 4,268 vehicles, lower by 35 per cent over May last year. The Sumo / Safari / Aria / Venture range accounted for sales of 3,121 vehicles, higher by 15 per cent over May last year.

Jaguar Land Rover sales continued their upward trend.

Cumulative sales and distribution offtake of passenger vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal are 46,985 vehicles (42,788 Tata + 4,197 Fiat), against 48,386 vehicles (44,423 Tata + 3,963 Fiat) last year, lower by 3 per cent. Cumulative sales of Tata passenger vehicles were 42,788 vehicles, lower by 4 per cent compared to 44,423 vehicles, in May last year.

Cumulative sales of the Nano are 16,527 vehicles, a 134-per-cent increase compared to 7,075 vehicles, in May last year. Cumulative sales of the Indica range are 9,747 vehicles, lower by 44 per cent. Cumulative sales of the Indigo family are 9,550 vehicles, lower by 31 per cent. Cumulative sales of the Sumo / Safari / Aria range are 6,964 vehicles, higher by 15 per cent.

Exports
The company's sales from exports at 5,534 vehicles in May 2011 registered a growth of 39 per cent compared to 3,976 vehicles in May last year. The cumulative sales from exports for the fiscal at 9,792 vehicles are higher by 38 per cent over 7,113 vehicles in the same period last year.
