FAS Took Part in Meeting of Black & Caspian Seas Authorities
OREANDA-NEWS. June 02, 2011. The FAS Russia’s delegation led by the Head of FAS Russia’s Igor Artemyev, took part in the meeting of the heads of antimonopoly authorities of the region of Black and Caspian Seas. The title of event was “The Avenues for Overcoming the Crisis: the Role of Governmental Agencies for Protection of Competition, the Prospects and Problems”, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.
The top-level meeting involved First Vice-Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, Vladimir Plakhotnyuk; General Director of the National Agency for protection of Competition, Ms. Viorica Carare; the Chairman of Romanian Competition Council, Bogdan – Marius Chiriюoiu; the Chairman of Ukrainian Antimonopoly Committee, Vasily Tsushko; the Chairman of Commission for Protection of Economic Competition, Artak Shaboyan, as well as representatives of business community.
The Head of FAS Russia’s Igor Artemyev made a presentation about “Improving Measures of Antimonopoly Control on the Markets of the Russian Federation”, where he highlighted the issues of improving competition law and enforcement in the Russian Federation and the main goals facing FAS Russia in the near future.
The parties emphasized that in the period of overcoming financial and economic crisis important factors of economic recovery include development of favourable entrepreneurial environment and development of competition. Under these conditions, the role of antimonopoly bodies is increasing and their attention should be focused, first of all, on socially important and infrastructure markets.
Participants emphasized that recommendations, formulated as the outcome of the meeting, were of action-oriented nature, and their implementation would facilitate development of a new economic model in the countries within the region of the Black and Caspian Seas in the post-crisis period.
