OREANDA-NEWS. June 01, 2011. The company Japan Tobacco International (JTI) and the Customs Service of Moldova (TC) have signed two agreements on cooperation to combat illicit trafficking of cigarettes. Agreement on Cooperation was signed by director of CS Tudor Balitsky and vice president of JTI, JTI Director in Moldova and Romania Neil Coupland.

Under the first agreement, the company JTI provides CS 20 with thousand euro, which will be used to purchase special equipment to combat the illicit trafficking of tobacco products. The second agreement provides for the CS vehicle equipped with special equipment to detect violations. As it is noted by Neil Coupland, the company JTI will continue to further cooperate with the governments of Moldova and Romania to reduce cigarette smuggling, and will use all means possible.

He said that currently supported by JTI, four cynologist teams are getting special training on the detection of cigarettes in Czech customs service for further work in Moldova. As it was previously reported, JTI is a member of international manufacturer of tobacco products JT Group. The company is a distributor of three of the five largest in the world of brands of tobacco products: Winston, Mild Seven, Camel. The corporation employs about 25 thousand employees in 120 countries.
