RTEC Appointed Vice President
OREANDA-NEWS. May 31, 2011. Russian Telecom Equipment Company (RTEC) today announced Robert Agee has been appointed senior vice president for RTEC. In his role Robert is responsible for business development, strategic investments and partnerships, M+A and long term planning. Robert’s main objective on the new position is to develop business with current customers and to find new opportunities for the realization of large projects on the Russian market in cooperation with world IT leaders.
Prior to joining RTEC Robert held senior positions at Cisco for over 12 years. He was General Manager of Russia/CIS (1997-2009). He also was the Strategic Adviser to Cisco’s Russia Board as well as adviser (and co-founder) for the Almaz-Capital/Cisco Fund I as well as Vice President for Business Development of Emerging Markets (2009-2010).
Robert played a key role in Cisco’s leadership position and success in Russia by increasing the Partner base, building relationships with the Kremlin, increasing market share as well as building the team to over 300 people and opening offices in all capital cities of the CIS. As a result, he was able to firmly establish Cisco as a key player in Russia and the ICT industry.
Prior to joining Cisco, Robert was the General Manager of Xerox Corporation for the CIS from 1991-1996 where he established Xerox’ distribution network in the Region and significantly expanded sales and the company’s infrastructure. Prior to this he was the Managing Director of Rank Xerox Nigeria (LTD) (1987-1990) and Country Manager of Rank Xerox Yugoslavia (1983-1986).
Robert was also active with the US Chamber of Commerce, assisting in the advancement of American IT companies in Russia. He was elected to AMCHAM’s Board of Directors twice and served from 1998-2002 and was a member of their Executive Committee (1999-2002). In 2002 he was nominated for the “Top 100 in the Russian IT Industry”. In 2004 he was awarded the Darin Russian National Award for his contributions to international development and integration. In 2005 Robert was granted the academician’s title of the International Telecommunications Agency.
Robert holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics (honors) from the University of California, Berkeley, and has an executive MBA from I.M.D (Lausanne, Switzerland).
