OREANDA-NEWS. May 31, 2011. French company Lactalis expand cooperation with partners from Moldova to development of the country existing high-capacity production of dairy products. This was stated by representatives of the company Lactalis during meeting with Prime Minister of Moldova Vladimir Filat, which was also attended by French Ambassador to Moldova Pierre Andrieu and commercial director of Lactalis Moldova Jeremie Rages.

According to the government press service, during the meeting they discussed issues concerning activities of French investors in Moldova, in particular, companies involved in dairy industry, as well as the prospects for expanding of their activities. Vladimir Filat insisted that this industry should be studied comprehensively, and the attention of the authorities and investors were focused not only on manufacturing but also in related industries such as agriculture and animal husbandry.

We are talking about opening of small farms that will supply raw milk, subsidies, etc. Filat stressed that Moldova needs a clear concept of development of this sector based on experience of economic calculations and performance, noting the importance of helping the French partners in this regard. As it was previously reported, French group Lactalis in Moldova has Soroca Cheese Factory Alba. Investment in its development since 2004 have exceeded 17 million euros. Today the company employs 220 people.

The company Lactalis-Alba Moldova takes milk in 76 villages, producing daily 80 tons of dairy products and 7 tons of cheese a day. The company Lactalis-Alba Moldova imports to Moldova elite French cheeses (Brie, Camembert, Roquefort), Dolce and desserts, processed cheese, cottage cheese, cream and butter. Lactalis Group is a global leader in manufacture of dairy products and cheese. It owns 77 factories in France and 51 - abroad. Investments in production exceeded 300 million euros.
