Volume of Russian Gas Transit through Moldova to Balkans Decreased
OREANDA-NEWS. May 30, 2011. The volume of Russian gas transit through Moldova to the Balkans in 2010 totaled 16.67 billion cubic meters. m, a decrease compared with 2009 by 2 billion 215 cu. m. (12%). This was announced by the chairman of the Moldovan-Russian company Moldovagaz Alexander Gusev, speaking at the annual general meeting of shareholders.
He noted that, accordingly, revenues of Moldovagaz from the Russian gas transit through the territory of the Republic declined in 2010 by USD 5 million, Gusev said that the tariff for transit of natural gas to Moldova in the European countries on Jan. 1, 2011 has increased from USD 2.5 to USD 3 for pumping of a thousand cubic meters. m. of gas per 100 kilometers. The previous rate of USD 2.5 was in effect the past 14 years.
It is planned that Moldova in 2011 will provide transit across its territory of 18 billion 230 million cubic meters.m of Russian natural gas supplied by Gazprom to European countries, particularly to the Balkan region.
As a result of increased transit rate Moldovagaz will receive additional revenue of over USD 8.6 million, which will improve the Company's financial condition and calculations with Gazprom for gas supplied. Russian gas transit across the territory of Moldova will be ensured by "Moldovatransgaz" and "Tiraspoltransgaz".
