G8 Summit Began in Deauville
OREANDA-NEWS. May 26, 2011. Dmitry Medvedev arrived in France last night. The working meetings of the summit participants begin today.
Issues on the summit’s agenda include the situation in the Middle East and North Africa, the fight against terrorism and crime, the consequences of the earthquake in Japan, and nuclear safety, as well as the development of the Internet and its effects on modern society and economy.
It is expected that Dmitry Medvedev will hold a number of bilateral meetings on the summit’s sidelines, including with President of France Nicolas Sarkozy, President of the United States Barack Obama, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom David Cameron, Prime Minister of Japan Naoto Kan and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
