Gazprom and Sakhalin Oblast Sign Memorandum of Understanding
OREANDA-NEWS. May 26, 2011. The Gazprom headquarters hosted a working meeting between Alexander Ananenkov, Deputy Chairman of the Company's Management Committee and Alexander Khoroshavin, Governor of the Sakhalin Oblast and the Oblast Government Chairman.
Alexander Ananenkov and Alexander Khoroshavin signed the Memorandum of Understanding on the gasification development in the Sakhalin Oblast as an entity of the Far East Federal Okrug and on the oil and gas processing facility creation on the Sakhalin Island.
Background
Gazprom and the Sakhalin Oblast Government entered into the Agreement of Cooperation and the Accord on Gasification in September and November 2006 respectively.
The gasification level in the Sakhalin Oblast is at 8.5 per cent including 8.4 per cent in cities and towns and 9.1 per cent in the rural area. The identical figures throughout Russia average 63.2, 67.5 and 45.5 per cent accordingly.
In 2009 Gazprom developed and adopted the General Scheme for gas supply to and gasification of the Sakhalin Oblast.
Gazprom elaborated and adopted in 2011 the Sakhalin Oblast Gasification Development Program up to 2014.
In March 2011 Gazprom commissioned gas supply facilities to convey gas to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.
This year Gazprom carries on the Sakhalin Oblast gasification efforts, a gas lateral and the Nogliki GDS are being designed.
