Ukraine Abolished Export Quotas for Grain
OREANDA-NEWS. May 26, 2011. The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine during session adopted a resolution on the abolition of quotas on grain exports. The Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Prysyazhnyuk said this to the journalists.
"Today or tomorrow the resolution will be published, and the quota on export of all grain will be cancelled ", - Mykola Prysyazhnyuk said, adding that the cancelling of quotas to concern also a following harvest.
The Minister informed that the Government instructed him to sign with the Chicago commodity exchange the Protocol of intentions on the opening of the branch exchange in Ukraine in the Black Sea basin.
"These two steps will give us an impulse in progress of manufacture grain and attraction of investments into grain business ", - Mykola Prysiazhniuk emphasized.
The Minister noted that Ukraine has a possibility to grow up nearby 80 million tons grain in a year and by 2015-2017 plans to reach for such volume of cultivation.
"If we involve the exchange mechanism, we will receive additional means which does not suffice, in particular, for technical re-equipment of grain branch", - Mykola Prysiazhniuk noted. He added, that in view of absence of a necessary technique during a sowing campaign and harvesting millions tons of grain are lost.
