OREANDA-NEWS. May 23, 2011. In recent years, SIBUR’s business in terms of the manufacture of plastics and organic synthesis products has grown substantially due to the introduction of new facilities and the expansion of existing ones, the acquisition of certain assets, and the company’s move to enter the fields of refining and specialty chemicals. In addition, the company has also undergone the dynamic construction of major new world-class systems for polypropylene production in Tobolsk, Tyumen Region, and of PVC in Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod region. In this regard, a new subdivision has been created from the Plastics and Organic Synthesis Division, on the basis of which a new Base Polymers Division has been created.

The Division will focus on operational and production activities, marketing and sales, and business development in such product segments as polyethylene and polypropylene. In addition, the management of the Base Polymers DIvision will be responsible for the company's participation in the “RusVinyl” joint venture in the PVC segment.

Once construction of the complex in Tobolsk has been completed (“Tobolsk-Polymer” LLC), the new division will also focus on the pre-marketing stage regarding new products of new manufacture and the subsequent use of these particularly facilities. The division has also assumed responsibility for the company “Tomskneftekhim” and the task of cooperating with the enterprise NPP “Nefekhimiya”, which should increase the company’s operational efficiency and determine the strategy of sites’ development.

Sergei Komyshan has been appointed as the Head of the new division. This expert has, to date, worked at SIBUR as the Deputy Director of the Plastics and Organic Synthesis Division. The commercial unit of the Division shall be headed by Andrei Frolov, Deputy Director for Sales, who previously held a similar post in the Plastics and Organic Synthesis DIvision.

In terms of sales and marketing, the Division’s management is inheriting the key values of SIBUR: customer orientation, innovation, and a transparent partnership approach. Together with products from the polyolefin series, the Base Polymers Division will benefit from receiving a good part of the managers that focus on these segments, thereby allowing the employees to focus more on achieving customer satisfaction. SIBUR shall continue to pursue its strategy of increasing its share of direct contracts, as well as increase the use of open sales tools, including electronic trading platforms.

The establishment of a new division should not entail increased staffing levels and is not associated with business growth. Job vacancies in the Base Polymers DIvision shall be primarily filled with people who are already employed by the company.
