OREANDA-NEWS. May 20, 2011. GAZ Group presents new fire fighting vehicles made by Gorky Automobile Plant and Ural Automobile Plant at the International Integrated Safety and Security Exhibition 2011 that takes place in the All-Russia Exhibition Centre in Moscow on 17-20th of May. New fire fighting vehicles made by GAZ Group offer comprehensive solutions for fire fighting at objects of various complexity and specifics, reported the press-centre of GAZ Group.

By the decree of the Russian Government of 15 April 2011, GAZ Automobile Plant and Ural Automobile Plant were included on the list of manufacturers of forest fire-fighting vehicles and equipment that will be purchased for the state needs. At the exhibition GAZ presents two new forest fire fighting vehicles and a rapid deployment vehicle designed to extinguish fires at their initial stage in the cities. The main exhibit of the Ural Automobile Plant is a fire fighting tank truck designed to extinguish fires at industrial objects.

‘Sadko’ GAZ-3308 off-road vehicle is designed to patrol forests, to prevent and extinguish forest ground fires, and to protect villages. The vehicle is equipped with a superstructure by American Lafrance, the biggest international manufacturer of fire fighting equipment. The characteristics of the superstructure include small weight (due to usage of light-alloy materials) and enhanced ergonomics. The water tank is made of armored plastic and has a life-long warranty against corrosion. In addition to the regular pump, the vehicle has a high pressure pump that ensures efficient usage of water and long operation without refilling the tank. The crew of the vehicle includes 5 people; the water tank capacity is 1,000 liters.

All-wheel-drive ‘Sobol’ GAZ-23107-based small forest patrol vehicle is designed to patrol and extinguish forest fires, grass and bush fires. The vehicle has a special platform with a high pressure fire fighting unit, water tank, power pump and additional lighting. The cabin and platform are protected against fire by safety rails, and seats for the crew make it possible to fight fire directly from inside the vehicle. The vehicle is powered by a modern diesel engine which is less fire hazardous than petrol engines. The crew includes 3 people; the water tank capacity is 500 litres. Forest patrol vehicle modification based on all-metal ‘Sobol’ GAZ-27527 van with a double cabin that can accommodate 5 people was also produced.

‘Valday’ GAZ-33106-based fire fighting vehicle ensures the quickest deployment in the cities. It is designed to localize and extinguish fires at their initial stage and to carry out emergency rescue operations. The vehicle is used for reconnaissance, relieving consequences of road accidents and as an escort vehicle in fire hazardous facilities and in motor racing. The crew includes 6 people; the water tank capacity is 1,000 liters, the foam tank capacity is 50 liters.

The main exhibit of Ural Automobile Plant is a new fire fighting tank truck ATs-8.0-67 based on all-wheel-drive heavy-duty Ural-63701 truck platform (6Х6, GVW 33.5t, payload 20.4t). The fire fighting superstructure was manufactured jointly with Katmerciler. The vehicle can be used for fire fighting in various industries: oil and gas facilities, aerodromes and other.

Characteristics of ATs-8.0-67 fire fighting tank truck based on Ural-63701 platform:

Johstadt-4000 pump unit with foam mixing multi-function system;

Integrated control panel of the pump and other units that ensures effective operation both in fire fighting and drawing of water;

High volume of transported fire extinguishing materials (8,000 liters of water and 2,000 liters of foaming agent);

Spacious compartment for the crew that accommodates 4 people and the necessary fire fighting equipment;

Master stream nozzle with remote control (consumption – 4,000 l/min);

Fire fighting equipment according to the regulations of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia (fire fighting fittings and hoses by AWG and ZR Armaturen German manufacturers);

Lighting in all compartments and around the fire fighting vehicle, and lift lighting mast.

Another new fire fighting vehicle presented at Ural Automobile Plant’s exposition is based on Ural-4320-1951-58 platform. It is ATs-6.0-70 tank truck designed to transport the crew, fire fighting equipment, stock of water and foaming agent to the site of fire, to extinguish fires with water and aspirated foam. The water tank capacity is 6,000 liters; foaming agent tank capacity is 360 liters. The tank truck is equipped with NP–4000S centrifugal single-stage pump and LS–S60U master stream nozzle. The range of uninterrupted water jet is 50 m, pulverized water jet – 38 m, foamed jet – 50 m.

The cabin has two seats, the paneling of the cabin is integrated – glass-reinforced plastic, which is as hard as metal and gives the vehicle a stylish look. Integral paneling ensures convenient access to the engine and its systems, simplifies maintenance and repair. The cabin has enhanced air-tightness, heat and noise insulation. The fire fighting vehicle can accommodate a crew of 6 people. The vehicle is powered by YaMZ–236НЕ2 230hp engine. Special fire fighting equipment for the vehicle was made by Miass company ‘Prioritet’, which has presented another fire fighting vehicle based on Ural-43206 (4Х4) platform at its exhibition stand - ATs-3.0-40 tank truck.
