Moldova Will Receive Annually Grants from Sweden in 2011-2014
OREANDA-NEWS. May 20, 2011. Moldova in 2011-2014 will receive from Sweden annually grants for the sum of 13 million euro for advancement of democratic and economic reforms. It is provided by new Strategy on development and cooperation between Moldova and Sweden for 2011-2014 which on Tuesday in Chisinau in presence of prime minister Vladimir Filat was signed by the Minister of Finance of Moldova Veaceslav Negruta and the general director of Swedish International development Agency (SIDA) Charlotte Petri Gornitzka.
It has been noticed that these means, in particular, are intended for advancement of democracy, protection of human rights, gender equality, including advancement of women in politics, and also for development of infrastructure and support of development of Moldova market. Charlotte Petri Gornitzka has noticed that new Strategy on development and cooperation between the countries confirms obligations of Sweden on support of ambitions of Moldova on association and economic integration into the European Union.
She has underlined that throughout last years Moldova has achieved essential progress in the course of eurointegration, and Sweden will continue to render it all-round aid for further advancement of reforms. Swedish grant the help is intended, in particular, for further harmonisation of Moldovan legislation with European norms, for development of effective government with high level of transparency and combating corruption. Problems of gender equality and observance of human rights, support of a civil society and independent mass-media are also approached.
Besides, investments for development of energy infrastructure, assistance to steady economic development, increases of competitiveness, trade increase are provided. Sweden is one of the largest donors of Moldova. Within the previous Strategy on development and cooperation with Moldova Sweden allocated to republic annually 11 million euro. Means have been intended for management improvement in the country, competitiveness increase in countryside and vulnerability reductions in energy sphere.
