OREANDA-NEWS. May 19, 2011. The two new companies are result of the separation of ArcelorMittal BioEnergia, caused by the spin-off of stainless sector from ArcelorMittal Group.  The spin-off operation was defined in January of this year and originated the creation of Aperam South America, the new name of ArcelorMittal Stainless Brazil. 

Aperam BioEnergia administrates a forest patrimony of 126,000 hectares, in which 76,000 are planted with renewable eucalyptus forest in Minas Gerais state.  The current production capacity is 1.4 million m2 of renewable solid bio-reducer (charcoal), with potential to reach 2.2 million m2 in the next years.  With its head office in Belo Horizonte, it has Clenio Afonso Guimaraes as president director and Paulo Sadi Silochi as operational director.  

ArcelorMittal BioFlorestas administrates a forest patrimony of 156,000 hectares, in which 95,000 are planted with renewable eucalyptus forest in the states of Minas Gerais and Bahia. The current production capacity is 1.5 million m2, with potential to reach 3,2 million m3 in the next years.  With its head office also in Belo Horizonte, it has the agronomist engineer Elesier Lima Goncalves as president director. Mauricio Bicalho de Melo is the operational director. 

Both companies will optimize the use of their forest assets, giving priority to supply their corresponding industrial units.
