OREANDA-NEWS. May 19, 2011. The Government drew a conclusion from the last year's poor harvest of buckwheat and achieved a principal remedy the situation. By 29 April, ie, in most early period, were sown 17 thousand hectares of buckwheat. When the average yield for the last 3 years (8.0 kg / ha) in late July - early August this year is expected to harvesting 13.0 – 13.5 thousand tons of grain from the new crop of buckwheat.

Generally, according to data from regions, forecasted production of buckwheat in all categories of farms is expected to reach 300 thousand tons, to 166 thousand tons more than the harvest of 2010. A cultivated area of buckwheat in all farms of Ukraine is 313 thousand ha, ie 98 hectares or 45% more than last year.

Significant areas of crops are concentrated in the most favorable climatic regions, particularly in farms of Sumy - 36 hectares, Khmelnitsk - 36,5 thousand ha, Vinnytsya - 26 hectares, Kharkiv - 24.7 thousand ha, Kirovograd - 22 hectares, Poltava - 20 hectares., Chernigiv - 20 hectares, Ternopil – 18.5 thousand ha, Kyiv – 17.8 hectares and Cherkasy – 15.9 thousand ha regions.

It should be noted that this year's spring was very favourable for the crop.
