Freight One Announces January-March 2011 Results
OREANDA-NEWS. May 16, 2011. Freight One increased traffic in January-March 2011 by 17.0 % over the same period of 2010 to more than 72.1 million metric tons. This figure includes 28.7 million metric tons of coal (+31.3%), 17.5 million metric tons of oil (-7.1%), 6.4 million metric tons of non-ferrous and iron ore (+14.1%), 4.5 million metric tons of construction freight (+62.5%), 2.3 million metric tons of cement (+15.8%), 5.6 million metric tons of ferrous metals (+28.3%), 1.5 million metric tons of chemical and mineral fertilizers (+12.1%) and 1.0 million metric tons of coke (15.5%).
The increase in traffic is a consequence of Freight One’s policy of balanced and flexible rates. Taking into consideration the seasonal increase in the traffic of construction materials, Freight One set the rate for cement at 5% less than the total cost of hauling in state-owned cars (Rate List 10—1 + the fee for using cars during the periods of loading and unloading) and 7% less for gravel. Freight One accounted for 21.9% of all the rail freight traffic in Russia in January-March 2011.
