SIBUR to Present Products and Investment Projects at Chinaplas 2011
OREANDA-NEWS. May 16, 2011. At the largest exhibition of Asian petrochemical products – Chinaplas (Guangzhou, China) – SIBUR shall present its polymer and rubber products, as well as investment projects, the export markets for which will include China and other countries in the Asian region.
This exhibition will involve SIBUR Vice-President for Planning, Logistics and Sales Support Oleg Makarov, Vice-President and Head of the Synthetic Rubbers Directorate Andrei Zhvakin, Vice-President and Head of the Plastics and Organic Synthesis Directorate Sergei Merzlyakov, and the Head of the Base Polymers Directorate Sergey Komyshan.
In 2010, the share of SIBUR sales accounted for by the Chinese market amounts to more than 14%. The company sells a diversified line of products to the Chinese market, primarily polyethylene, nitrile rubber and butyl rubber.
Polyethylene is used in packaging, thermal insulation, packing containers, medical and other equipment. In terms of SIBUR polyethylene exports in 2010, the share delivered to China accounted for about 76% of the company’s production. Nitrile rubber is used in the manufacture of industrial rubber products that are intended for use in aggressive environments: conveyor belts, wire and cable products for industrial enterprises, components for the automotive industry, as well as adhesives and sealants. SIBUR is one of the largest importers of nitrile rubber on the Chinese market with a share of approximately 20%. Butyl rubber is used in the tyre industry for the production of inner tubes and diaphragms, as well as in the manufacture of medical and other rubber products. SIBUR’s share of the Chinese market in terms of butyl rubber sales amounts to 15%.
In 2010, the total volume of SIBUR’s sales in the Asia region amounted to over 934 mln euros, of which a major part of these sales can be attributed to China.
In addition, the exhibition will also present such products as polyethylene terephthalate, polycarbonates, PVC and ABS resin, in addition to various kinds of synthetic rubbers. For participants in the Chinaplas 2011 exhibition, the company has prepared the presentation “Tobolsk-Polymer” – one of the world’s largest polypropylene production complexes, which is scheduled for launch in early 2013.
