OREANDA-NEWS. May 13, 2011. Jinchuan Group Limited was awarded the 2011 China Industrial Award, the highest award for the industry sector, joining other five recipients. This made Jinchuan to be the only company in Gansu Province and China’s nonferrous industry to receive the honor, reported the press-centre of Jinchuan Group.

From humble beginnings, Jinchuan has grown into a resources giant. Today, it is the fourth largest nickel producer and the second largest cobalt producer in the world and the third largest domestic copper producer.  It is also China’s industrial base for nickel and cobalt and was dubbed  “Gold Baby of the Republic” and  “A Source of Pride for China”.

The Group aims to become a mining multinational. Its cooperation with companies from 18 countries took the form of M&A, controlling-stake purchasing, equity investments and financing. Now, it operates in 30 countries and territories. A landscape of global operation is emerging. Its global perspectives bring broad prospects for the Group.

In an interview with reporters after the awarding ceremony, Yang Zhiqiang, the ebullient chairman of the Group, said that the award was an important opportunity for Jinchuan to enhance technological innovation and become a world-leading multinational mining house.

The award was given by the China Federation of Industrial Economics together with 11 other industry associations.

The awarding takes place every three years. The first awarding ceremony was held in 2007.
