OREANDA-NEWS. May 13, 2011. President Alexander Lukashenko signed Decree No. 181 "On Some Measures to Improve State Regulation in Remuneration of Labour."

The Decree provides for a number of measures to liberalize the labour remuneration practices.

The Decree allows commercial companies (both state- and privately-owned), including banks and individual entrepreneurs, to choose themselves whether or not to apply the Uniform Tariff System, UTS, for remuneration of labour of their employees, making the application of the UTS advisable rather than mandatory. This move, however, is not expected to see employers discarding this system altogether. It only means employers now have the right to define the remuneration terms themselves, either within or outside the UTS.

The Decree gives employers more rights in setting bonus payments for their employees (bonuses, increments, extra payments).

The Decree comes into force on the first day of the month following the month of its official publication.
