OREANDA-NEWS. May 13, 2011. Inflation for the last 12 months – from April 2010 through April 2011 amounted to 6.5%, it was informed at the National Statistics Office. Particularly, food prices in January-April 2011 grew 6%, prices for non-food products – 1.6%, tariffs for services rendered to the population grew 5.7%.

In April 2011, food prices increased in the republic by 1.3%, prices for non-food products – by 0.7%, tariffs for services rendered to population increased by 0.9%. The biggest growth of prices in April this year among foodstuffs was reported for sugar – 4.7%, fresh vegetables – 3.6%. Among non-food products, the biggest growth was seen for fuel – by 3.3%, building materials – 1.9%, women’s shoes – 1.3%.

Tariffs for electric power supplied to final consumers grew 3.7%, cable television services – 3.2%. As it was reported earlier, inflation in 2010 was 8.1%. In the beginning of this month, the National Bank of Moldova increased its inflation projection for 2011 from 7.9% to 8.4%, and for 2012 – from 4.5% to 5.7%.
