Moldovan Economy Recovers after Crisis, IMF
OREANDA-NEWS. May 12, 2011. It was said by Nikolay Gueorguiev during the meeting with the acting President of Moldova, Parliament Chairman Marian Lupu, with the IMF Representative in Moldova Tohir Mirzoev also participating.
Nikolay Gueorguiev emphasized that the last years efforts to re-orient the national economy onto export were successful and said it is necessary to stabilize the political situation in the country which is a basis for the planned economic achievements. Marian Lupu, in his turn, stressed that the Moldovan authorities continue developing of the macroeconomic policy, especially taking into consideration the importance of mutual understanding and cooperation with the IMF.
A mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is visiting Chisinau during April 27-May 12, 2011. During its stay, the mission is taking stock of the recent economic developments and program implementation. It is also discussing with the authorities their medium-term expenditure and tax policy plans, as well as other macroeconomic and structural policies to foster macroeconomic stability and promote sustainable growth in the period ahead.
