IBA Sponsors BSUIR Open Championship in Collegiate Programming
OREANDA-NEWS. May 11, 2011. The finals of the BSUIR Open Championship in Collegiate Programming took place in Minsk, Belarus. The competition was held in compliance with the rules of the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ACM ICPC), reported the press-centre of IBA.
The championship gathered 81 student and school teams from Brest, Grodno and Grodno Region, Minsk, Mogilev, Mozyr, and Svetlogorsk. Twenty-six teams reached the competition’s finals.
At the finals, the participants were offered to solve 10 tasks in English within 5 hours. The BSU team KupluMoped comprised of Jury Pisarchik, Roman Udovichenko, and Denis Yarets, won the first place.
The winners received the IBA gift certificates for books and for the training course “Programming technologies. SOA architecture” to be conducted at the IBA-BSUIR joint laboratory.
Boris Nikulshin, BSUIR Provost and Chairman of the Organizing Committee, expressed his gratitude for the IBA’s assistance in organizing the contest.
At the closing ceremony, Alexander Sorokin, IBM Manager of University Projects in Russia and CIS, delivered a presentation dedicated to the IBM’s centenary. Since 1997, IBM has sponsored the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest, the most prestigious competition among young programmers.
