Moldova Ranked 1st in CIS in Terms of Freight Traffic Growth Rates
OREANDA-NEWS. May 10, 2011. According to data of the CIS Statistics Committee, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan rank second and third, having increased their freight traffic in January-March this year by 24% and 19.6% respectively in comparison with the same period last year.
They are followed by Belarus (+18.2%) and Ukraine (15.8%). The biggest volume of freight in January-March 2011 was transported by Russia – 662.4 million tones, having increased it by 4.4%. The least volumes were transported by Armenia – 1.3 million tones and Moldova – 2 million tones. CIS states altogether transported in the first quarter of 2011 about 1,441 million tones of cargoes, up 11.4% from the same period of 2010.
As it was reported earlier, Moldova’s rail, motor, river and air transport enterprises transported 2 million 29.2 thousand tones of freight in the first quarter of 2011, having exceeded indicators of the same period last year by 62%.
