EU to Start Negotiations with Moldova on Free Trade Zone
OREANDA-NEWS. May 10, 2011. It was said by the Moldovan Prime Minister Vladimir Filat during a press conference in Brussels following the meeting of the Moldova-European Union Cooperation Board. It was said Moldova had fulfilled the key recommendations of the European Commission to start the talks.
They concerned elimination of technical barriers in trade; trade and customs administration facilitation; access of goods to the market and trade statistics; goods origin rules, sanitary and phytosanitary measures; services and investment; rights for intellectual property; public purchases; competition and others. Establishment of the comprehensive and deepened free trade zone between Moldova and the EU will enable to considerably improve the existing trade relations and will provide both parties with the preferred access to the markets, eliminating not only tariff, but also non-tariff and normative barriers.
The bilateral comprehensive and deepened free trade zone between Moldova and the EU will ensure trade liberalization, will enhance investors’ trust in Moldova, will approach the Moldovan legislation to the European norms, will provide Moldova’s considerable integration into the EU home market.
