KAMAZ Exhibits Two New Bottle-Gas Driven Vehicles
OREANDA-NEWS. May 06, 2011. Two new KAMAZ bottle-gas driven vehicles were shown to Director General of OJSC KAMAZ Sergey Kogogin.
Two bottle-gas driven vehicles – the KAMAZ-4308 chassis with a gas engine by a foreign manufacturer and the gas-engine low-entry city bus NEFAZ-5299-30-31 with an improved interior were exhibited on the ground near the General Directorate. The both vehicles run on compressed natural gas – methane.
Together with Sergey Kogogin, Yuri Klochkov, First Deputy Director General of KAMAZ – CEO, and Danis Valeev, Chief Designer of the company, examined the new machinery. Sergey Kogogin familiarized himself with the both models: he sat in the cab, listened to the engine running, saw the interior.
The KAMAZ-4308 vehicle is good for cities, being low-tonnage and able to run on those roads to which heavy vehicles are denied access. The use of methane as fuel adds to the value of the vehicle, because schools and preschool institutions in some large cities use cars running only on natural gas, compliant with Euro 4 environmental standards and higher.
The NEFAZ-5299-30-31 bus will help to solve two problems at once – to provide public transport enterprises with new modern buses and to derive economic and environmental benefits from the use of gas-engine buses. It has already been calculated that operation of 20 bottle-gas driven vehicles produced by KAMAZ can produce an effect amounting to several hundred thousand rubles a year only thanks to the difference in prices of diesel fuel and methane. Environmental effects from the operation of vehicles running on methane will be tangible when the share of CNG vehicles reaches 6% of the total number of cars in the fleet.
