Yanukovych: Payments Rise to Pension Fund Indicates Economy Growth
OREANDA-NEWS. May 06, 2011. Growing revenues of the Pension Fund are an indication of positive shifts in the national economy, President Viktor Yanukovych said, while talking to veterans at the Ukrainian Public Medical and Social Center in the village of Tsybli, Kyiv region.
He said that in April this year the Pension Fund received almost 11.5 billion UAH. "Compared with the beginning of the year it is 18% more. This means that wages are growing and contributions to the Pension Fund are made, so the economy has started working," Viktor Yanukovych said.
In his speech, the President described the economic situation in the past and this year. Viktor Yanukovych noted that 2010 was very challenging, but by its end the government managed to reduce the budget deficit from 15 to 5% and maintain the payment of wages, pensions and social assistance.
"We are pleased with this result," he said.
Viktor Yanukovych stressed that the most important thing is that last year the foundation for economic development and was laid and reforms started. "By the end of 2011 we will cover all areas of life of the state with reforms," he said.
Viktor Yanukovych stressed that salaries and pensions will continue to grow.
