OREANDA-NEWS. May 05, 2011. New product Tulachermet has resumed production of parallel special crude iron. A long period spent on site by filling machines from the blast-furnace department has resulted in an excellent batch of this material. The company received this order—for two thousand tonnes—from OMK Steel (from the city of Vyksa, Nizhny Novgorod Region).

Last year, metallurgists from OMK Steel visited Tulachermet and reviewed the production technology used for this unique product, which will help them smelt higher-quality steel for the production of oil-and-gas pipes. The parallel special crude iron production technology was developed by Tulachermet in conjunction with the engineering company Intermet-Service, more than 15 years ago.

The value of this unique material lies in the fact that during its processing using electric ovens, the smelting time is reduced, and the loss of iron and use of electricity is lowered. In addition, the quality of the steel is improved, since the parallel special crude iron is made with pristine materials free from any harmful admixtures. On top of all this, it is environmentally clean and, compared with traditional crude iron smelting, CO2 emissions during the production of parallel special crude iron are reduced considerably.
